Question leakage cannot be stopped for unscrupulous teachers: Nahid

Chittagong: Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid on Sunday commented that question leakage in different public examinations cannot be stopped completely because of a section of unscrupulous teachers.
He said some dishonest teachers are even providing answers to the students in the examination halls in exchange of money, making the problem more unfathomable.
"After a hard endeavour, we controlled question leakage. But this ill practice cannot be stopped fully because of a section of immoral and dishonest teachers", the minister said adding that the ministry is taking tougher steps against the perpetrators.
Nahid came up with the comments while addressing the President's Gold Medal handing over ceremony held at Business Administration Faculty auditorium of Chittagong University (CU) this noon.
Addressing the function as the chief guest, the minister said the present government is pledged-bound to build up an educated nation through formulating a time befitting, modern and scientific education policy, which has already been praised by all sections of people.
"We have formulated a scientific education policy incorporating opinions from all sections of people and nobody has so far expressed incongruity about this education system", he asserted.
Underlining the importance on technical education, the minister said technical education has to be given priority to go forward.
He said the enrolment of students in technical education increased as the government has brought a revolutionary change in technical and madrasa education.
Nahid also urged all concerned to work sincerely so that students may have standard education and enhance their competence instead of only getting certificates.
Earlier, he distributed certificates among 33 students of the university who stood first and second in English and Bengali essay competitions held between 2009 and 2016.
CU vice chancellor (VC) Prof Dr Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury presided over the function while secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Department of the education ministry Mohammad Sohrab Hossain addressed it as the special guest.
CU Pro-vice chancellor Prof Dr Shirin Akhter, CU acting registrar Prof Dr Kamrul Huda, deans of different faculties and heads of different departments, among others, were present on the occasion.
