‘Be the Presentation’: Workshop held at NDUB
Dhaka: Notre Dame University Bangladesh English Club (NDUBEC) organised a workshop titled ‘Be the Presentation’, a workshop on developing presentation skills for NDUB students on July 28, 2017. This session was conducted by Sami Hossain Chisty, Lecturer, Department of English Language and Literature (ELL), NDUB, who has recently joined the club as Advisor.
The workshop was initiated by Habiba Akter, Lecturer of ELL, NDUB, and Moderator of NDUBEC; it was attended by Fr Subas Adam Pereira, CSC, Registrar, NDUB, and Md Waliullah, Lecturer of Department of ELL, who also judged the participants and provided certificates of participation, said in a press release.
In addition, Co-moderator Ahmed Tahsin Shams, Lecturer, Department of ELL, NDUB, announced the results of the Creative Writing Competition based on the Club Day Out in Comilla, which was held on July 14, 2017. Sanjoy Kumer Barman, student of ELL, became the champion, along with Aditya Shankar, student of ELL, who was the first runner-up, and Arnab Bhatacharjee, student of CSE, who was the second runner-up. All three were awarded with certificates and prize money of BDT 3000, BDT 2000, and BDT 1000 respectively.
Sami Chisty chalked out in detail the pros and cons of presentation, including fonts, images, diction, and above all presentation skills. In the beginning, he mentioned the reason behind the title of the workshop. He believes, the presenter himself/herself is the presentation, and other stuffs like the projection, slides, and microphone are only helping tools for the presentation.
It was a two-hour session followed by a live demonstration from the club members and instant presentation competition. The winner group, students of Batch 8 of the Department of ELL, received an award for their outstanding presentation, judged by Fr Subas Adam Pereira, CSC, and Md Waliullah.
The workshop ended with the distribution of certificates for both participants and the club committee members, followed by snacks.
