A platform of four left-leaning student bodies of Dhaka University on Monday demanded that the probe body formed to look into the recent incident of a fist fight between students and teachers be reconstituted incorporating their representatives.
They also demanded punishment of the teachers who allegedly attacked them during their protest against the nomination of the vice-chancellor panel without election to Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU), reports the UNB.
Masud-al-Mahadi, a Masters student of the Mass Communication and Journalism (MCJ) Department, came up the demands at a press conference held at Madhu’s Canteen on the campus.
They further demanded resignation of DU assistant proctor Rabiul Islam, who allegedly led the attack, as well as immediate DUCSU election to bring back the democratic environment of education on the campus.
The students will hold a rally at the foot of Aparajeyo Bangla on the campus on August 2 protesting the ‘attack’.
