Khulna: Khulna University (KU) authorities on Thursday terminated a teacher of the department mathematics for sexually harassing a female student of his discipline. 

The KU syndicate took the decision in a meeting on the campus with vice-chancellor Professor Dr Md Fayequzzaman in the chair.

The decision on sacking Professor Md. Sharif Uddin came as the allegation of sexual harassment against him was proved true, reports news agency BSS.

KU Registrar (in-charge) Professor Dr Sarder Shafiqul Islam said the termination letter was accordingly sent to Prof. Sharif Uddin last night.

In 2009, a teacher of the economics department of the KU was also sacked from the varsity over a similar allegation.
