President asks DU authorities to protect its dignity

Dhaka: President Abdul Hamid on Thursday asked Dhaka University authorities to uphold the longstanding tradition of the university and maintain its dignity apart from ensuring its environmental development.
The President came up with the call when newly appointed DU Vice Chancellor Prof Akhtaruzzaman met him at Bangabhaban.
President's Press Secretary Joynal Abedin briefed reporters after the meeting.
Mentioning that Dhaka University is a prestigious educational institution of the country, President Hamid advised the DU administration to abide by the rules and regulations in running the university.
Besides, Hamid, the chancellor of the university, directed the DU authorities to give special emphasis on its environmental development.
He stressed the need for taking an integrated initiative to sustain the tradition, customs and dignity of the country's highest seat of learning.
Prof Akhtaruzzaman apprised the President of the overall activities of the university and sought cooperation in discharging his duty.
Secretaries concerned to the President office were present.
