Part of DU D-unit entrance test question paper ‘leaked’
Dhaka: A part of the question paper given for the entrance test of University of Dhaka D unit for session 2017-18 was allegedly leaked around 8 hours before the examination.
NTV Online received a mail which attached a sample question paper of the test at about 3:19am on Friday. Part of the question paper was similar to the question paper distributed among the candidates during the test, which took place at about 10:00am-11:00am on Friday.
However, the university’s Social Science Faculty dean Dr Sadequa Halim, who is also involved with examination management, denied the question leak allegation.
A total of 71 admission seekers vied for each seat at the first year admission test of ‘D’ unit (combined unit for science, business studies and humanities group students) under 2017-18 academic session of Dhaka University (DU).
A total of 98,054 applicants will contest against 1,610 seats of three groups Science (1147), Business (410) and Humanities (53).
The questions which are similar to those of the leaked question paper are- the questions from English, ‘What is the meaning of the idiom to follow your nose?’, ‘the Highway Agency…bad weather’, ‘Germany has on the football match’, ‘This is the school which…’ and ‘A piece of cake means…’.
Refusing the allegation, Sadequa Halim said, ‘Question paper leak is impossible. If you get information about the question leakage, we will form investigation body to find out the matter.’
DU’s acting proctor AM Amzad said ‘some of the candidates tried to adopt unfair means during the examination. They were detained and actions taken against them.’ However, unlike the dean, the acting proctor also denied the claim of question paper leak.
