Briefing session of Hult Prize 2018 held at BRAC University

A briefing session of Hult Prize 2018 at BRAC University hosted by BRAC Business School and co-hosted by IABC | BRAC University took place on 14 October afternoon.
The session started at about from 3:00pm and continued till 5:00pm in the auditorium of the university’s Mohakhali campus.
Every year, HULT Prize @ BRAC University has amassed in a stream of exceptionally brilliant minds, who have come up with ideas envisioning a better future.
This year the theme of HULT Prize 2018 is ‘Harnessing the Power of Energy to Transform the Lives of 10 million People’. To ensure that this year’s participants are well-prepared to face this challenging theme, some spectacular speakers graced the event.
The briefing session started at 3:00pm with Tasneem Omar Ava presenting an Opening Speech as the Campus Director, followed by Mahreen Mamoon, HULT Prize Coordinator, who then invited the keynote speaker, Mr. Sajid Iqbal on stage.
Sajid Iqbal, recipient of the Queen’s Young Leader Award 2017 delivered a speech on the role of private sectors in innovation in the sustainable energy market and picking up inspiration from all around. Stawb Peter Halder, a BRAC Alumnus, was the next guest speaker who motivated the participants by emphasizing on following their passions and summed up the speech by focusing on the principle of 3 I’s – Immense, Innovative, Inspirational.
Afterwards, former HULT Prize Campus Director and HULT Prize 2014 Regional Finalist, Asif Chowdhury shared some insightful moments from his HULT journey and the significance of familiarizing oneself with the various issues that slum dwellers face to be able to initiate change. Mahreen Mamoon thanked the guest speakers and handed them crests.
Faraiba Farnan, co-Founder of Sneho, HULT Prize 2015 Regional Finalist spoke about her team’s experience, followed by Team Resurgence, HULT Prize 2017 Regional Finalists, sharing their experience and journey.
A video featuring the accelerator program of HULT Prize 2016 Global Finalists that included Team Synergy from BRAC University, was then showed to the participants, after which Mirza Tanzim Sami, Co-Founder of Synergy, Champion of HULT Prize 2016 Regional Final in Shanghai and Global Finalist of HULT Prize 2016 in New York, conducted a thoroughly informative session, answering queries and providing ideas on HULT Prize marking criteria.
The session ended with the unveiling of the HULT Prize at BRACU app by Tasneem Omar Ava- for the very first time in this year’s session of the competition in BRAC University and some words of acknowledgement and gratitude towards the co-host, IABC | BRAC University and BRACU Express, the news correspondent of HULT Prize @ BRAC Univesity.
