Most pry teachers cannot get Creative Method: research
Dhaka: Most of the primary schoolteachers of the country do not know how to work out Creative Method in evaluating students’ performances, revealed in a research report conducted by the Research for Advancement of Complete Education.
The report says: about 13% primary schoolteachers have no idea about the ‘controversial’ method introduced in the country’s education system few years back.
While 42% teachers poorly understand the method and 45% can properly use the method.
The RACE report was unveiled at Drik Gallery at Dhanmondi in Dhaka on Monday afternoon.
RACE member Fouzia Akter Rini presented a keynote paper on the report while the organisation’s president Sharif Uddin presided over the meeting.
Writer Syed Abul Moksud, economist Anu Muhammad, anthropologist Zahir Uddin Ahmed, scientist Abdullah Al Mamun Chowdhury, journalist Mustafiz Shafi, Manusher Jonno Foundation programme co-ordinator Abdullah Al Mamun, among others, were present at the discussion.
The report was produced on a survey conducted on teachers and students of 21 schools in 16 districts. Schools were in villages, towns, border areas, Haor areas and hill districts.
The report said about 47% teachers depend on guidebooks while 35% teachers talk to colleagues and 18% teachers directly teach students depending on their own traditional method.
