No unhealthy competition over public exams, President tells guardians

President Abdul Hamid on Thursday called upon guardians to come out from the unhealthy competition over their children’s public examinations as it does not bring any good to the country, nation and society.
The President made the call while addressing the third convocation of the University of Information Technology and Sciences (UITS) at International Convention Centre, Bashundhara, reports the UNB.
Computer scientist and columnist Prof Dr Mohammad Kaykobad of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) was present as the convocation speaker.
Terming the alleged involvement of some guardians in recent question paper leak as a very shameful act, he said they should not be worried over their kids’ exams results only as they should think about the moral degradation issue also.
The President, also the chancellor of the university, praised the initiative of the UITS for introduction of the special courses on ‘Moral Education’ and ‘Emergence of Bangladesh’ in its curricula.
President Hamid asked the authorities of all private universities to abide by ‘The Private University Act 2010’ at any cost.
It is the demand of time to ensure quality education, infrastructure development and time-befitting facilities for the teachers, officials and employees of university, he said.
The President hoped that the UITS would continue its efforts to attain the quality of education.
President Hamid advised the graduates saying,’ As a graduate from the country’s highest educational institution, you’ll always uphold the truth and righteousness.’ Don’t compromise with injustice and untruth,’ he added.
Always try to uphold the dignity of your degree through which a lot of responsibilities bestowed upon you (graduates) and never tarnish your personal dignity and morality, he said.
Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC) Prof Abdul Mannan, UITS Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mohammed Solaiman, UITS Trustee Board Chairman Alhaj Sufi Mohammed Mizanur Rahman and secretaries to the President were, among others, present.
