Bangabandhu Science & Technology Fellowship Bill passed
Sangsad Bhaban: A bill titled ‘Bangabandhu Science and Technology Fellowship Trust Bill, 2016’ was passed in Parliament seeking to create scopes for students to obtain higher education in Science and Technology both at home or abroad, reports UNB.
Science and Technology Minister Architect Yeafesh Osman moved the Bill in the House and it was passed by voice vote.
According to the Bill, a trust titled ‘Bangabandhu Fellowship Trust’ will be formed the head office of which will be in Dhaka.
There will be a 13-member trustee board headed by either the Minister or the State Minister of Science and Technology Ministry.
The other members of the Board are included: Science and Technology secretary, one representative each from Information and Communication Technology Ministry, Cabinet Division, Education Ministry, Finance Division, Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Division, Public Administration Ministry, Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (BCSIR), University Grants Commission, and two professors nominated by the government from science faculties of two public universities.
