DU to take ‘Gha’ unit entry test afresh
Dhaka: Amid widespread protests over the alleged question paper leakage, Dhaka University authorities have decided to take the ‘Gha’ unit admission test under Social Sciences faculty afresh.
However, only those who came out successful in the earlier test can appear at the retest to be held on October 12.
DU Vice-chancellor Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman came up with the information while addressing a press conference at his residence on Tuesday, reports the UNB.
He said the decision to take the examination anew was taken at a meeting of the Deans’ Committee held at the VC office around 12 noon.
“As the committee formed to probe the question paper leakage has found the allegation to be true, we’ve decided to retake the admission test of the unit for those who scored pass marks in the earlier test. We don’t want anyone to be deprived of,” the DU VC said, adding that the Deans’ Committee also recommended the fresh test.
He said they will take necessary steps against those responsible for the question paper leakage and the university authorities will remain alert so that such incident never happens in the future.
The results of ‘Gha’ unit (combined unit for science, business studies and humanities group students) admission test for 2018-2019 academic session held on October 12 were published on October 16.
Fourteen images of handwritten question papers of the ‘Gha’ unit entry test spread on social media around 9:17am, 43 minutes prior to the beginning of the exam.
After scrutinising the images and the original question papers provided at the exam halls, it was found out that 72 MCQ questions (19 in Bengali, 17 in English and 36 in general knowledge section) got matched.
