Khan Academy is now available in Bangla
The popular online education platform Khan Academy from now on will be available in Bangla. The free Khan Academy Bangla website can be accessed at bn.khanacademy.org.
Agami, a non-profit organization dedicated to promote education for the underprivileged children in Bangladesh, and country’s leading mobile phone operator Grameenphone on Tuesday jointly announced the launching of Khan Academy Bangla, according to a press release.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid was present as chief guest at the launching event of Khan Academy Bangla.
Launched in 2006 by educator Salman Khan, Khan Academy (www.khanacademy.org) gained worldwide popularity as a non-profit educational organization that provides ‘a free, world-class education for anyone, anywhere’.
Having features like practice exercises, instructional videos, dashboard analytics and teacher tools, the platform provides free online study materials to support personalized education for learners of all ages with a view to empowering learners ‘in and outside of the classroom to study at their own pace’.
The joint press release from Grameenphone and Agami said, ‘With the launching of Khan Academy Bangla, learners and educators across Bangladesh can now access these contents and tools, all in Bangla.’
‘Khan Academy Bangla was made possible through collaboration between Agami, Grameenphone Ltd. and Khan Academy. As part of this collaboration, 2 million words and over 600 videos were translated and localized in the last 8 months. The localization work is ongoing and more content and additional subjects will be added in Khan Academy Bangla in coming months. In addition, a school level pilot study is planned to evaluate and further enhance the Khan Academy Bangla website,’ the release added.
