Sylhet: Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) teachers and students observed the International Women’s Day through various programmes on Tuesday.

Combined Cultural Alliance took out a procession on the campus at around 1:00pm and later held a rally.

Speakers called for united efforts of the university teachers and students to open up opportunities for underprivileged woman of the country, they also stressed the need for women’s education.

Bangla assistant professor Shohel Rana, convener of the alliance Shahneaz Pavel, members Sarwar Tusar, Rafi Hemel and Sayeda Zubaidah Rahman addressed over the rally.

The theme of this year’s International Women’s Day ‘Planet 50-50 by 2030: Step It Up for Gender Equality’.
