Dhaka: Dhaka University authorities have banned smoking inside all the university buildings.

A notice in this regard was issued on Tuesday following a decision of the university Syndicate taken on 21 March.

The Syndicate at a meeting with DU Vice chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique in the chair decided to impose a ban on smoking inside all the DU establishments, including the administrative building, faculties, institutes, offices, classrooms and laboratories.

DU Proctor Professor Amzad Ali said the decision was taken for raising social awareness, hoping that everyone will abide by the ban.
