CUET suspends academic activities amid protests
Chittagong: Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) authorities on Thursday announced suspension of graduate-level academic activities for indefinite period amid the class-exams boycott programme of students.
It also asked the male students to vacate halls by 3:00pm on Thursday and female students by 10:00am on Friday.
The decision was made in an emergency meeting, involving the vice‑chancellor, pro‑vice‑chancellor, deans, department chairs, directors, provosts and registrar, on the campus in the afternoon as serious breach in law and order situation is feared, says a press release issued by the university authorities.
The students went on demonstrations to push for nine-point demand following the death of Mohaiminul Islam Siyam, a 4th year architecture student, in a road accident on March 29.
University public relations assistant director Mohammad Fazlur Rahman said the postgraduate academic activities will go on.
