Sylhet: A two-day conference on ‘research for sustainable development’ started at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) on Tuesday.

The University Research Centre organised the conference at the central auditorium.

The research centre director Zakir Hossain presided over the inauguration ceremony while university vice-chancellor Aminul Haque Bhuyan addressed the programme as the chief guest.

Professor Ilias Uddin Biswas, treasurer of SUST, Prof Kamal Ahmed Chowdhury member of SUST research centre and Professor Akhtarul Islam director of the centre of excellence were present as special guest.

Prof Nazrul Islam convener of the conference,   Prof Mohammad Iqbal convener of the technical committee and Md Shamsul Haque Prodhan were present at the programme.

At least ten technical sessions will be held at the conference in different parts.
