Stay alert about students, President asks universities
Dhaka: President Abdul Hamid on Monday asked the authorities of the country's universities to remain alert so that their students do not get involved in terrorist and militant activities.
He also advised the authorities to increase students counseling aimed at refraining them from engaging in anti-social activities.
The President, also the Chancellor of country's all universities, gave the directive when newly appointed Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology (Buet) Vice-chancellor Saiful Islam and Rajshahi University Vice-chancellor Muhammad Mizanuddin separately met him at Bangabhaban, reports UNB.
During the meetings, President Hamid also asked the authorities to maintain the quality of education so that students can compete in the international arena, President's press secretary Joynal Abedin briefed reporters after the meeting.
Saiful Islam expressed gratitude to the President for appointing him Buet VC and sought overall cooperation in discharging his duties.
The RU VC invited the President to preside over the university's upcoming convocation.
Secretaries concerned to the President Office were present.
