Not more than 30 percent increase in tuition fees: Ministry
Dhaka: The government on Tuesday issued a circular asking non government schools, colleges, madrasas and vocational institutions not to increase tuition fees over 30 percent by any means.
‘After the introduction of new pay scale for government officers and employees, private MPO, (monthly pay order), non MPO and partially MPO listed educational institutions are increasing unusual tuition fees, which cannot be accepted by any means,’ said a circular of Education Ministry.
It said the private educational institutions can realise maximum 30 percent tuition fees and salaries from students after consulting with the guardians about their solvency. Final approval of additional deputy commissioner (education) is must to increase the fees.
Besides, except the session charge and development fees prescribed in the admission policy, the educational institutions can not realise additional money (charge) for establishment expenditures, it added.
The circular said: ‘If any school wants to provide additional allowance to MPO-listed teachers beyond their government's portion of salary and allowance, the amount should be fixed in way that the gross salary and allowance of a teacher will not exceed the gross amount of a government school teacher of same scale. The non-MPO teacher's gross salary and allowance must not exceed the total salary amount a MPO teacher of same scale’.
Under the government's decision, the number of teachers and employees of private educational institutions should be fixed in line with the organogram.
No branch of classes can be extended without the approval of Education Ministry while recruitment of teachers and employees will be illegal if there is no approval of branch of class.
The educational institutions cannot realise tuition fees for the teachers and employees who will be recruited without approval.
The salary and allowances of teachers and employees would be fixed on the basis of educational qualification attributed in the organogram.
