British Council launches IELTS Scholarships 2016
Dhaka: The British Council has launched 'British Council IELTS Scholarships 2016' to assist more people access international education experience.
With this scholarship scheme, five applicants planning to attend an undergraduate or postgraduate programme with an IELTS recognised institution overseas, will receive scholarships worth BDT 300,000 each, said a press release.
Students applying to higher education institutions in Australia, USA, UK and other countries may apply for this scheme. Scholarship payments will be made to the attending higher educational institution in order to assist students with their tuition fees.
“We are delighted to announce IELTS Scholarships 2016. The response and feedback from last year’s scholarships from our candidates, stakeholders and registration points have been extremely positive. As a result we are re-launching this scheme to support our IELTS candidates to achieve their dreams for a foreign education.” Deep Adhikari, Director Examinations Bangladesh said.
Any Bangladeshi student who is intending to study abroad in 2016-17 and has taken the IELTS test from April 1, 2016 till the test date of 1 December 2016 with British Council Bangladesh test centres are eligible to apply for the scholarship. However, a candidate has to have a valid score of minimum 6 in overall bands.
A hard copy of the completed application form along with the writing task and TRF (IELTS Test Report Form) must be submitted at the British Council Offices in Dhaka, Chittagong or Sylhet by 1 December 2016 for the scholarship. All shortlisted applicants will be notified by email on 5 December 2016.
In the second stage, 20 applicants will be shortlisted based on their writing task submitted with the application. Also, they have to provide the letter of acceptance/offer from the attending institution by 12 December 2016 during the face to face interview session. The winners of the scholarships will be notified by email on 14 December 2016.
