Qualified teachers to be recruited for nongovt educational institutions: Nahid
Dhaka: Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid on Saturday said the government was pledged-bound to recruit qualified and talented teachers for all non-government educational institutions to ensuring quality of education in Bangladesh.
"The process of recruiting qualified teachers for non-government educational institutions through holding examinations centrally is an epoch-making programme of the present government," he said.
The minister made the comments after visiting Dhaka College examination centre of the 13th Non-Government Teachers Registration and Certification Authority (NTRCA) written test this morning.
The tests were held at 99 examination halls of eight divisional towns across the country. As many as 6,02,533 candidates, who are intending to get appointment against the vacant posts of non-government educational institutions, sat for the test.
The minister said the government for the first time in the country has been taking the test like the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPATC) in line with the country's education policy.
Under the system, he said candidates who came out successfully in the preliminary test sat for the written test held today. The successfully candidates of the written test will have to sit for oral test, he added.
The minister said after completing all formalities, the final results would be published by the end of October this year for appointing teachers to those institutions.
"Teachers will be appointed to the educational institutions from among the candidates who will come out successfully in all tests," he said.
Education Secretary Md. Sohrab Hossain, NTRCA Chairman A M M Ajhar, Dhaka College Principal Prof. Mohammad Nozammel Hossain Molla, among others, accompanied the minister during the visit.
