A two-day workshop titled ‘Biosafety and Biosecurity in Laboratory Diagnosis and Research’ began at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) campus on Saturday.

Biochemical and Molecular Biology (BMB) department arranged the workshop at a seminar room of Academic Building ‘C’ with the help of ICDDRB, Bangladesh Bio safety and Bio security Association and Central for Control and Prevention.

Vice-chancellor Aminul Haque Bhuyan inaugurated the workshop at about 9:00am.

In his speech, the VC said, it will be dangerous for our health and environment if we don’t control different substances in Lab work so Bio safety and Bio security in Laboratory is very important.

Chief of BMB department Shamim Ahemd presided over the inaugural function while Principal of Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital professor Murshed Ahmed Chowdhury and Civil Surgeon Habibur Rahman spoke among others at that time. Chief of Bio safety and BSL Laboratory Asadul Ghani was present at the workshop as a resource person.
