RU expels female student for bringing false allegation against teacher
Rajshahi: Rajshahi University (RU) authorities have expelled a female student for bringing a false allegation of sexual harassment against a teacher.
The action was taken against Shapla Sultata Shafia, a 2nd year student of the Urdu Department, at the 467th syndicate meeting held on Sunday night with RU vice-chancellor Muhammad Mizanuddin in the chair, said Pro-VC Chowdhury Sarwar Jahan, reports UNB.
On 20 December 2015, Shapla, also an activist of RU unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League, brought the allegation against the teacher of Islamic History & Culture Department, the Pro-VC said.
Following her allegation, university administration formed a three-member probe body on 26 December.
However, the probe body found the allegation to be false and submitted their report to the university administration in this regard.
Later, the university authorities served a show-cause notice to Shapla.
