471,000 secondary teachers trained to design creative questions
Dhaka: Some 4.71 lakh teachers from the secondary and higher secondary schools and Madrasas across the country have been trained up over preparing creative question papers.
Under the Secondary Education Sector Development Project (SESDP), the teachers were trained up to implement the creative question paper, moving away from the traditional MCQ-based questions that encourage memorizing.
Some 13,950 master trainers received 12-day training initially, who subsequently trained up a total of 4,06,664 teachers from the secondary schools and Dakhil Madrashas, while 64,292 teachers from higher secondary schools and Alim Madrasas.
It was informed at the 19th meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Education Ministry, held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban with its chairman Afsarul Amin in the chair, reports UNB.
At the meeting, it also informed that computers and other instruments was provided to some 125 upazila ICT resources centres, that are being constructed under Upazila ICT Training and Resource Center for Education (UITRCE) Project.
The parliamentary watchdog recommended strengthening training programme for building capacity of teachers on creative teaching method in the classroom.
Committee members Abdul Kuddus, Mohammad Hasan Mahmud, Golam Mostafa, SM Abul Kalam Azad, Mohd Mamunur Rashid and Selina Akter Banu attended the meeting.
The Education Secretary and other high officials from the ministry were present at the meeting, said a Parliament Secretariat handout.
