15 recommendations to improve secondary education quality

Dhaka: Aiming to enhance the quality of secondary education, educationists have made 15 recommendations, including introduction of common question paper at the secondary level by 2019,
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid came up with the information at a press briefing at the ministry on Monday, reports UNB.
The educationists made the recommendations during a two-day seminar held over improving the quality of secondary education at a hotel in Cox’s Bazar on November 25-26, said Nahid.
The minister said steps will be taken later to implement the recommendations made by the experts.
Professor Abdullah Abu Sayeed, Dr Muhammad Zafar Iqbal, a teacher of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), Rasheda K Chowdhury, Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman and high official concerned of the ministry were also present at the press briefing.
Excluding examinations on Arts and Crafts, Physical Education, Health Science and Sports and Carrier Education at Secondary School Certificate level for reducing pressure on students; launching ‘Reading book day’; introducing ‘question item bank’ for improving the quality of MCQ and creative questions, providing ‘teachers’ guide’ in accurate time were among the recommendations.
