Dhaka: A new trust fund titled ‘Justice Sikandar Ali Menorial Trust Fund’ has been set up at the Department of Law of Dhaka University (DU). 

Sarwar Sultana, an ex-UNDP Resident Representative and daughter of late justice Sikandar Ali, handed over a cheque of TK 14 lac to DU treasure Prof. Md. Kamal Uddin on Sunday at the Vice-Chancellor’s office to set up this trust fund. 

Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Dr. Nasreen Ahmed, Dean of the Faculty of law Prof. Dr. Taslima Monsoor, Chairman of the Department of Law Prof. Dr. Borhan Uddin Khan were, among others, present on this occasion. 

Out of the income of this fund, every year some meritorious students of the department will be awarded “Justice Sikandar Ali Trust Fund Scholarship”

Late Justice Sikandar Ali was born on January 1 in 1907 at Barlekha under greater Sylhet division and died on December 31 in 1966.
