Two Dhaka University students get Shahid Ronoda Prasad Roy Award
Dhaka: Two female students of the Mathematics Department of Dhaka University received ‘Shahid Ronoda Prasad Roy Award of Academic Excellence’ for their outstanding academic results in BS Honours examinations of 2016.
The awardees are---- Shikha Saha and Jyoti Das.
DU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique handed over the award to the students, as a chief guest at a function at the VC’s lounge of the university on Sunday, said a press release.
Chairman of the Mathematics Department Prof Dr. Amulya Chandra Mandal, Chairman of the Applied Mathematics Department Prof Dr. Abdus Samad, UGC Prof Dr. M Anwar Hossain, provost of the Jagannath Hall Prof. Dr. Asim Sarker and acting registrar M Enamuzzaman were present on this occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, DU VC Arefin Siddique urged the students to equip themselves with non communal values and to work hard for establishment of social harmony in the country.
Shaheed Ronoda Prasad Roy, who was a student of DU mathematics Department, brutally killed by the barbaric Pakistan Army on the black night of March 25, 1971.
