Dhaka: The first meeting of Commander Rouf Trust fund was held at Treasurer’s office on Thursday.

The meeting was chaired by the Treasurer Professor Dr. Kamal Uddin.

The Trust Fund is formed at University of Dhaka in memory of Commander (Rtd) Abdur Rouf, a veteran freedom fighter.

The Trustee Board includes Dr. Noor Mohammad, Executive Director of PSTC, Ms. Gitali Hasan, daughter of Commander Rouf and Shah Mohammad Hassan, a renowned Industrialist.

Later on the fund team led by Dr. Noor Mohammad met the Vice Chancellor of the University of Dhaka, Professor Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique at his office.

The board decided to award a Gold Medal to the best student of Department of Population Sciences in the upcoming Convocation, which will be held on 3 March, 2017.

Commander Abdur Rouf was also a former naval officer, educationist and one of the organisers of liberation war in 1971 and one of the accused in the ‘Agartala Conspiracy Case’.

He was also a founder of Population Services and Training Center (PSTC).
