Nahid asks for students’ commitment at MIST graduation
Dhaka: Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid on Wednesday asked students to devote their full potentials to the development of the country with patriotism, honesty and sincerity.
“Do your best to uphold your image and the image of your prestigious institution,” he said while addressing the 15th Graduation ceremony of Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) at its Mirpur cantonment campus in the city, says a Inter-service Public Relation (ISPR) media release.
The Education Minister emphasized to achieve vision-2021 in relation to attain the technical optimism in the context of Bangladesh.
He said, “Rapid development in the field of technology has brought revolutionary and epoch making changes around the globe. Your success has already earned credibility for this institute within a short span of time.”
It has attracted widespread response by this time. Inculcate the habit of upgrading your mental faculty by relentless pursuit of knowledge, the Education Minister said.
He also urged the science and technology-based educational institutes to play a supportive role to the government’s endeavors in building up Digital Bangladesh.
The Minister called upon the graduates to take challenges and opportunities of the 21st century to build themselves as worthy citizens in future.
“We will build such a new generation, which will be competent in science and technology, imbued with ethical values, patriotism and responsible to people,” he added.
A total of 305 students (civil - 257 and military-48) were conferred degrees at the ceremony. Student Shoyon Panday of Aeronautical Engineering Department was awarded Osmany Memorial Gold medal for best academic result.
Commandant of MIST, Major General Md Abul Khair, delivered his welcome address and discussed all the running curriculum activities of the institute.
Local Member of Parliament, Chief of the Naval Staff and Acting Air Chief, Quarter Master General of Bangladesh Army, Defence Secretary, Defence Attache of different countries, Vice-Chancellor of BUP, high ranking civil and military officials were also present in the ceremony.
