CU doc sent on forced leave on ‘sexual harassment’ charge
Chittagong: Chittagong University (CU) authorities on Monday sent a physician of its medical centre on forced leave over the alleged sexual harassment of a female student.
The action was taken following protests launched by the students on the campus, said acting Proctor Helal Uddin Ahmed.
The general students staged demonstrations for the 2nd consecutive day demanding the removal of the physician.
Besides, the CU authorities formed a seven-member probe body, headed by Pro Vice-chancellor Prof Dr Shirin Akhter, to look into the allegation of sexual harassment brought against CU Medical Centre physician.
On Friday, the physician, Mostafa Kamal Hossain, reportedly harassed a female student when she went to the medical centre with stomachache.
Later, the victim filed a written complaint against the physician with the CU proctor office on Saturday.
Protesting the incident, the CU students also staged demonstrations on the campus on Sunday.
