Dhaka: Four meritorious students of Theatre & Performance Studies Department of Dhaka University (DU) were awarded Prof Zia Haider Memorial Scholarship for their outstanding results in BA (Honours) examinations of 2013 and 2014.

Tahmina Islam, Aishwarja Azad Shimul, Afrin Huda and Elius received the scholarship from DU Vice-chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique at a function held on Thursday at Prof Abdul Matin Chowdhury Virtual Class Room.

DU Pro-VC (Academic) Prof Dr Nasreen Ahmad presided over the function while Dean of the Faculty of Arts Prof Dr Abu M Delwar Hossain addressed the programme as the special guest.

Poet Zahid Haider, younger brother of late Zia Haider, also addressed the function while Theatre & Performance Studies Department chairman Sudip Chakrabarty delivered the welcome speech.
