No second time entrance test for DU
Dhaka: The High Court on Wednesday rejected the petition against the decision of the Dhaka University (DU) authorities not to allow students to sit for entrance test for the second time.
An HC bench comprising Justice Farah Mahbub and Justice Kazi M Ejarul Haque Akanda fixed 8 July for delivering its verdict after a hearing on the petition on Tuesday.
Earlier on 14 October 2014, the Dhaka University authorities decided to allow only freshly passed HSC students to appear at its entrance tests in a single year from the 2015-16 academic session, aiming to create an equal opportunity for all the aspirants.
A total of 16 guardians filed the writ petition with the High Court earlier in the day challenging the legality of the decision.
On 16 March, the HC issued a rule asking the authorities concerned to explain why the decision not to allow students to sit for the DU admission test for the second time would not be declared illegal.
