Over 1lakh students yet to get admission
Dhaka: Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said a one lakh 6,511 students are yet to get admission in colleges for higher secondary level, where around 12lakh 82, 618 candidates passed in the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and its equivalent examinations this year.
The minister on Thursday afternoon in a meeting at the ministry conference room of secretariat said 11lakh 76, 107 students are admitted in colleges for academic session 2015-16.
The minister said this year the admission process follows four steps. Students, who did not get chances for college admission in the previous three steps, got the opportunity for admission to class XI for in the fourth step.
In the fourth step, around 82, 544 students submitted applications and got admitted, said education minister.
He said students can also go for the 30,000 seats which are still vacant under the Technical Education Board.
Nurul Islam said students who could not get enrolled in any college would be able to get admitted till August on the basis of availability of seats.
However, students did not apply for 20 colleges under Dhaka Board, said the minister.
