Medical students demand to reinstate ‘carry on system’
Dhaka: Medical students on Saturday demanded that the authorities should allow them to attend classes before they sit for the supplementary examination.
As per the new curriculum, if the students become unsuccessful in any in the exam for any particular course, they are not allowed to attend classes of the next academic session before qualifying the supplementary exam, which are held six months later.
The students formed a human chain under the banner of Sommilito Medical Shikkharthi Bangladesh to press home their demand of the restoration of the ‘carry on system’ as per the 2002 curriculum.
They noted that their academic year will be affected by the new system and they will suffer session-loss for six months.
They also added that if the ‘carry on system’ is not reinstated, crisis of intern doctors will be created in country’s medical colleges and hospitals.
