69.6pc pass HSC, equivalent exams
Dhaka: The results of Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations 2015 have been announced with 69.6 success rate, which is 8.73 lower than that of last year.
A total of students, 7,38,872 out of 1,073,884, came out successful in this year’s HSC and equivalent examinations while 42,894, students achieved the grade point average (GPA)-5.
The pass rate of girls and boys are 70.23 per cent and 69.94 per cent respectively.
The success rate in Chittagong board is 63.49% while 59.80% students passed in Comilla board, 77.54 in Rajshahi, 74.57 Sylhet, 70.43% in Dinajpur, 46.45% in Jessore.
A total of 70,461 candidates out of 82,558 came out successful in the examinations under the Madrasah Education Board with 90.19 per cent pass rate while 98,296 students took part in the examinations under the Technical Education Board and 89,125 passed with a success rate of 85.58 per cent.
The results show that a total of 34,721 students scored GPA-5 under the eight educational boards, 1,435 candidates under the Madrasah Education Board and 6,430 students under the Technical Education Board. Of the total 8,294 participating colleges 1,133 showed cent per cent pass rate.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid along with the chairmen of all the education boards handed over copies of the results to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at Ganobhaban at about 10:00am.
Later, the minister will formally announce the results at a press conference at his ministry at about 1:00pm, said Education Ministry senior information officer M Saifullah on Saturday.
The examinees will get the results from their centres, education board websites and cellphones through SMS shortly after the press conference. The results will also be available on the website: http://www.educationboardresults.gov.bd
A total of 1,073,884 students from 8,305 educational institutions under 10 boards, including one madrasah and another technical board, were enrolled to appear in the examinations this year. Of them, 570,993 students are boys and 502,891 are girls.
Some 10,196 students skipped the exam on the first day. Besides, about 700 candidates were expelled for adopting unfair means in the examinations.
The examinations were held at 2,419 centres across the country.
