SC: No second chance at DU entrance test
Dhaka: The Appellate Division rejected the petition seeking second time chance for appearing at the entrance test of University of Dhaka and upheld the High Court order.
With the order issued by the apex court, the DU authorities will not allow students to appear for entrance test for the second time from now.
A four-member Appellate Division bench led by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha on Monday issued the order after concluding a hearing on petition filed against a HC order.
The other members of the bench are Justice Nazmun Ara Sultana, Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain, and Justice Hassan Foyez Siddique.
Advocate Subrata Chowdhury was present on behalf of the petitioners while Dhaka University’s counsel was Advocate AFM Mesbah Uddin.
Earlier, on 8 July, HC rejected a writ petition filed by students seeking second time chance for sitting the entrance examination of DU.
Later, an appeal petition was filed against the HC order.
Earlier on 14 October 2014, the Dhaka University authorities decided to allow only freshly passed HSC students to appear at its entrance tests in a single year from the 2015-16 academic session, aiming to create an equal opportunity for all the aspirants.
A total of 16 guardians filed the writ petition with the High Court earlier in the day challenging the legality of the decision.
