Dhaka: Dhaka University (DU) has chalked out an elaborate programme to observe the 39th death anniversary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam on 27 August.

The day's programme will begin with Quran khawani after Fajr prayers at DU Central Mosque.

As part of the programme, students, teachers, officers and employees of the university will gather on Arts Building premises and place wreaths and offer Fateha led by DU vice chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique at the grave of the poet at 7:15am.

A discussion meeting will be arranged on the premises of the grave on this occasion with the VC in chair.

DU Bangla Department chairman Prof Begum Akhter Kamal will conduct the function.
