Dhaka: A new gold medal named ‘Faizunnessa-Kabiruddin Rahmani Memorial Foundation Gold Medal’ has been introduced at the Department of Geography and Environment of Dhaka University (DU).

Chairperson of the Department of Geography and Environment Professor Dr Hafiza Khatun handed over a cheque for Tk 5 lakh to DU Treasurer Professor Dr Md Kamal Uddin at the DU Vice-chancellor’s office on Monday to introduce the gold medal in memory of her parents.

DU VC Professor Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique, former Chairman of the Department of Geography and Environment Prof Dr Md Abdur Rob, Professor Dr AQM Mahbub, others faculty members and family members of the donor were present on the occasion.

Out of the income of this donation, one meritorious student who will secure the highest CGPA in BS (Hons) final examination from the Department of Geography and Environment of DU will be awarded ‘Faizunnessa-Kabiruddin Rahmani Memorial Foundation Gold Medal’ every year.
