‘Sow peace’, says US ahead of Bangladesh polls
Dhaka: The Embassy of the United States (US) here continues to encourage all to have a peaceful election in Bangladesh saying peaceful election and economic progress go together keeping hand in hand, reports the UNB.
The Embassy shared a number of images on its verified Facebook page over the last couple of days that contained messages of peaceful election as Bangladesh goes to polls on December 30.
‘Think before you act violently! Your country depends on it,’ shows one of the images imprinted with the text and national flag of Bangladesh.
In another photo with text, shared by the US Embassy, goes like – ‘As you sow, so you reap. Sow peace!’
In each of the image, the Embassy repeatedly used few words with Hashtag – end violence, win with peace and vote with peace – encouraging all to avoid violence.
On Wednesday evening, the Embassy shared what the US Ambassador in Dhaka Earl R Miller said in a recent event.
‘The success of democracies depends on citizens actively participating in the political process and letting their voices be heard. We hope Bangladesh has a peaceful and festive Election Day,’ Ambassador Miller was quoted as conveying to students recently at the Win with Peace - Shantite Bijoy Debate Competition at Dhaka University. The event was co-funded by USAID-UK aid.
