EC to arrange ‘mock voting’ through EVMs Thursday
Dhaka: The Election Commission will hold ‘mock voting’ through electronic voting machines (EVMs) in six constituencies on Thursday as part of its preparation to use the machines there instead of ballot papers.
‘The mock voting through EVMs will be conducted from 10am to 4pm on Thursday in all the polling stations of the six constituencies,’ said SM Mahmud Arafat, officer-in-charge of Operation Planning and Communication of the EVM Project, reports the UNB.
The six constituencies—Dhaka-6 and-13, Chattogram-9, Rangpur-3, Khulna-2 and Satkhira-2 - have a total of 21,24,554 voters.
The Commission will use EVMs in the six constituencies out of the country’s 300 ones in the 11th national election slated for December 30.
As part of making the new machine familiar to the voters, the EC is going to arrange ‘mock vote’ through EVMs, three days before the election.
The total number of voters in the country is now 10,42,38,673, according to the EC’s statistics.
