Dhaka: Expressing solidarity with the people of Bangladesh following the Gulshan café attack, the France Embassy in Dhaka has cancelled its reception programme scheduled for 14 July on the occasion of the French National Day, reports UNB.

‘The Embassy of France considers that holding a festive reception in this mourning time is not appropriate,’ said a France Embassy notification on Wednesday, adding that the reception has been cancelled due to the terrible attack of 1 July.

The reception was scheduled to be held at the Le Méridien Dhaka on 14 July marking the National Day of France.

Meanwhile, Japanese Embassy in Dhaka also postponed a dinner programme, scheduled to be held on 12 July, due to ‘unavoidable circumstances’.
