An evening of Rabindra Sangeet at IGCC
Dhaka: The Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre will organise an evening of Rabindra Sangeet with Ameenah Ahmed and Golam Haider at 6:30 PM on 6 November 2015 at the centre’s Gulshan branch in Dhaka.
Ameenah Ahmed received her graduation degree in Intermediate Piano Playing and Theory from Trinity College of Music, London. She was in touch with western music and drama for almost 36 years. After that she started learning Rabindra Sangeet and Classical Music from noted teachers of Bangladesh. She has taken a five years diploma course from Sangeet Bhavan. She is a regular enlisted artist of Bangladesh Betar and BTV.
Since 1992, she is lifetime president and chief sponsor of ‘Rabirag’. She is also chief advisor and chief sponsor of ‘Bangladesh Rabindra Sangeet Shilpi Sangstha’. She has given many performances on stage in Bangladesh and India notable among which are — Rabindra Sadan of Kolkata, Shishir Mancha, Girish Mancha etc.
She has received many awards and honours. The Dhaka unit of Bangladesh Rabindra Sangeet Artist Association honoured her with ‘Gunijon Shommanona 2013’ felicitation. 13 CDs and 2 DVDs of her songs have been released from Dhaka and Kolkata. She is a noted social worker also and started ‘Meena Trust’ in 2014 to carry out her noble work.
Golam Haider took a certificate course in Rabindra Sangeet from Bulbul Academy of Fine Arts. He also learnt from famous music personalities namely Sudhin Das, Motalib Biswas, Ustad Fazlul Haque, Tapan Boidya, Gopal Roy etc. He is enlisted as a regular singer in Bangladesh Betar and Bangladesh television since 1996.
He is the Joint Secretary of ‘Bangladesh Rabindra Sangeet Shilpi Sangstha’ and Principal of Bangladesh Sangeetkala Academy Ltd. He also has released many CDs. He is the CEO of CD producing house ‘Commitment Products’. He has been doing a noble work of patronising many new comer artistes.
