Dhaka International Folk Fest begins Thursday

Dhaka: Dhaka International Folk Fest 2017 will begin at the Bangladesh Army Stadium in the capital THursday.
The festival will be jointly organized by Sun Communications Limited and Maasranga Television to showcase local talents on a global platform.
Organisers named Shahjahan Munshi, Arif Dewan, Fakir Shahabuddin, Shahnaz Beli, Shah Alam Sarkar and Aleya Begum, Baula and Bauliana, among others, as some of the local talentsscheduled to perform.
A total of 140 folk musicians will perform from across the world, the organisers said.
Nooran Sisters and Papon & Basudeb Das Baul from India, Grammy winning artist Tinariwen from Mali, the Mekaal Hasan Band from Pakistan, Kutumba from Nepal, Rastak from Iran, Mauricio Tizumba and Sextet from Brazil and Tenzin Choegyal, the award-winning Tibetan artist, were announced as some of the international participants.
The three-day event will have three separate Entry Passes for each day. The audience is requested to bring the correct Entry Pass along with them for each day to gain access to the event while registration is free.
