An evening of Rabindra Sangeet with Shwapnil Shojib
The Indira Gandhi Culture Centre (IGCC) will host ‘Rong Lagale’ — an evening of Rabindra Sangeet with Shwapnil Shojib at 6:00pm on 12 February at the IGCC’s Gulshan branch.
Shwapnil Shojib has been one of the prominent Rabindra Sangeet singers in the past decade. He completed four years diploma in music from Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, Faridpur and also trained at Chayanaut Sangeet Biddayaton. He also trained in Rabindra Sangeet under Rezwana Chowdhuri Bannya. He also learnt Hindustani Classical Vocal Music and Loghu Shangeet from celebrated artist Ustad Ali Imam Chowdhuri.
Shojib has released three solo musical CDs from Bangladesh and another from Kolkata. His musical The Tagore Treasury for G series Agniveena was a recent hit. He has also rendered voice for — ’Shruti Geetobitan and Notun Tara-2 released in 2011’. He has also participated in Tagore’s Dance Drama ‘Mayar Khela’.
Shojib has won several awards including National awards like’Jatiyo Shishu Puroshkar’ in Rabindra Sangeet in 1998, ‘Prothom Maan’ award in 2007, 2009 and 2011 by Jatiyo Rabindra Sangeet Sammilan Parishad, Gold Medals at ‘Jatiyo Shikkha Shoptaho’ in Rabindra Sangeet in 2000 and 2001, First Prize in Rabindra Sangeet arranged by National University of Bangladesh etc.
He is a regular artist in Bangladesh Television and Betar. He is one of the popular artists and regularly performs in different TV channels of Bangladesh and India. He has participated in prestigious stage concerts in Bangladesh, India, USA, UK and Australia. He is associated with different cultural organisations of Bangladesh such as Bangladesh Rabindra Sangeet Shilpi Shangstha, Surer Dhara and Shadhona Shangskritik Mondal.
