A musical evening with Chhanda Chakraborty
The Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC) is organising a musical evening with prominent Nazrul Geeti exponent Chhanda Chakraborty on 25 April at IGCC’s Gulshan branch in the capital at 6:30pm.
Chhanda Chakraborty is a distinguished exponent of Nazrul Geeti in Bangladesh who was trained under musical stalwarts such as Pandit Ratan Adhikari, Pandit Ananda Chakraborty, Pandit Anil Saha and Pandit Sudhin Das.
She is a special grade artiste of Nazrul Geeti in both Bangladesh Betar and Bangladesh Television. Chakraborty have several musical albums to her credit.
Chhanda Chakraborty is received ‘Nobin o Protisruthishil Shilpi Sammanona’ from the Nazrul Academy in 2006, ‘Jatiyo Nazrul Samaj Padak—2009’ from Jatiyo Nazrul Samaj, and ‘Chhayanir Guni Shilpi Sammanona-2012’ from Chhayanir.
Her musical album ‘Prothom Moner Mukul’ was nominated for the 5th Citycell –Channel-i Music Awards in the Best Nazrul Geeti category.
She was part of the Bangladesh Government’s cultural delegation that visited India to participate in the India-Bangladesh joint celebrations of the 90th Anniversary of the publication of ‘Bidrohi’ by Kazi Nazrul Islam in July 2012.
