Deutsche Welle HD available in Bangladesh

Starting December 1, audiences across Asia can tune in to English-language television from Deutsche Welle (DW), Germany’s international broadcaster, in crystal-clear high definition (HD) quality. The HD channel will run parallel to DW’s standard definition (SD) channel. DW Distribution Executive South Asia Tobias Grote-Beverborg unveiled Deutsche Welle HD for Asian viewers at Hotel Westin in Capital, recently.
The HD channel will include the same schedule of quality programming on the same AsiaSat 7 satellite with a new frequency and will be unencrypted (free-to-air). The former SD channel continues to be broadcast as before.
At the opening ceremony, Beverborg said ‘DW continues to deliver the best experience for our audience in Bangladesh and HD is an essential part of this.’
The move to HD is a big part of DW’s new strategy to increase its presence in Bangladesh and to expand its audience.
