An evening of Rabindra Sangeet with Ashraf Mahmud
Dhaka: The Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC) arranged an evening of Rabindra Sangeet with Ashraf Mahmud at the centre’s Gulshan branch in Dhaka at 6:30pm on Saturday.
Mahmud rendered 15 Rabindra Sangeet in presence of a full packed audience. He was accompanied by Pallab Sannyal on table, Simon Reza Khan on keyboard, Gazi Abdul Hakim on flute, and Asit Biswas on esraj.
Ashraf Mahmud received his Bachelor of Music degree from Dhaka University. He got training in Rabindra Sangeet from Rezwana Chowdhury Bannya, Abdul Ahad, Sadi Mohammad and Tapan Mahmud.
Apart from this, he learnt classical music from Shamima Parvin and Ustad Fazlul Haque among others. He was awarded Bangladesh Shilpakala Padak-2013 in recognition of his contribution to the field of music.
Mahmud is a special grade singer at Bangladesh Television (BTV), Bangladesh Betar (Radio). He regularly performs at private television channels.
He also works as a music director at BTV and as a music trainer at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
