American Centre delegation meets UGC chairman
Dhaka: A four-member delegation from the American Centre, Embassy of the United States of America on Monday met University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman Prof Abdul Mannan at the latter’s office and discussed on academic and research collaboration.
Public Affairs Officer and Director of the American Center Ann Barrows McConnell led the delegation, said a press release.
Other members of the delegation included George Mesthos, Cultural Affairs Officer, Shaheen Khan, Fulbright Programs and Tysir Chowdhury, Education USA Adviser, the American Centre, Embassy of the United States of America, Dhaka.
Ann McConnell said more and more academic and research collaboration between the higher educational institutions of Bangladesh and those of USA need to be established for internationalization of higher education.
UGC chairman briefed the delegation about the role and functions of the UGC and said the UGC has been working with a number of components including Academic Innovation Fund , Bangladesh Research and Education Network (BdREN), Quality Assurance Cell, UGC Digital Library, Accreditation Council and Cross Border Higher Education (CBHE) for quality enhancement of higher education.
UGC Members Prof Dr Mohammad Yousuf Ali Mollah, Prof Dr Dil Afroza Begum, Prof Dr Md Akhtar Hossain, Prof Dr M Shah Nowaz Ali and UGC Secretary Dr Md Khaled among others were present.
