British Council to provide English training to school teachers
Dhaka: The British Council will give assistance for evaluation of English speaking and listening skills in schools and madrasas in Bangladesh.
The Education Ministry on Sunday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the British Council in this regard.
Education Ministry additional secretary Chowdhury Mufad Ahmed and British Council director Barbara Wichham signed the MoU at the meeting room of the ministry in the presence of Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid, said an official release.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister said English speaking and listening skills of the students would be reviewed from now on along with their reading and writing skills.
Therefore, there will be regular practice of speaking and listening in schools, he added.
The minister hoped that the students would be efficient in English by acquiring the four skills.
He thanked the British government for extending cooperation to Bangladesh to this end.
