6 injured in AL infighting
Satkhira: At least six people, including a chairman candidate, were injured in a clash between two groups of Awami League over the campaign for the upcoming union parishad (UP) election in Khalilnagar of Tala upazila early Thursday, reports local news agency.
The Tala police officer-in-charge Qamrul Islam said supporters of Sardar Raju Ahmed, AL rebel chairman candidate, attacked supporters of Pronab Ghosh Bablu, an AL-nominated chairman candidate for Khalilnagar UP, also its incumbent chairman, during campaign in the area at about 1:30am.
Six people, including Bablu, got injured.
The injured were admitted to Satkhira 250-Bed Hospital.
Police went to the spot and brought the situation under control.
Additional police forces have been deployed in the area.
