Chittagong: Chittagong University got its first woman Pro-vice Chancellor through the appointment of Prof Shirin Akther.

Registrar Prof Kamrul Huda said Professor Shirin Akther of Bangla Department has been appointed as the 8th Pro-VC of the university.

The post of Pro-VC had been lying vacant since the appointment of Pro-VC Prof Iftekhar Uddin as the VC on June 15, 2016.

Prof Shirin Akther completed her masters degree in 1984 and joined the university as a lecturer in 1996. She did her Ph.D from Jadavpur University in India.
